ROUNDED

Continuous arc across the frontal plane. Best suited to rounded skull morphology with minimal angular features.

Rounded diagram

The Rounded profile describes a hairline that follows a continuous, gentle arc across the frontal plane without sharp angles or pronounced temporal recession. This is the softest hairline classification in the KORT system.

Diagnostic Principle

Any flat spots or angular transitions break the arc and create an obviously segmented appearance. The practitioner must work in continuous reference to the overall curve rather than focusing on individual dot placement.

It is best suited to clients with rounded skull morphology — those whose frontal bone presents a smooth, convex curve without prominent temporal ridges or angular features. On these skulls, a rounded hairline follows the natural bone structure and reads as organic.

Density distribution in a rounded profile should be even across the arc, with a soft gradient at the leading edge. Unlike angular profiles where density can vary zone by zone, the rounded profile demands consistency — variations in density along the arc create visual flat spots that disrupt the curve.

The transition to the temporal zone is the most critical area. The arc must flow naturally into the sideburn area without creating a hard endpoint. This requires a gradual density reduction that follows the natural curvature of the skull around the temporal bone.

This profile is contraindicated for clients with angular facial features or prominent temporal ridges, where the softness of the curve would conflict with the sharpness of the underlying bone structure.
